Date:

From Umar Dankano, Yola

The Deputy Chairman, Senate committee on Defence and Army, Senator Muhammad Umaru Jibrilla Bindow, has submitted his letter of intent to the leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa state indicating his interest to contest the state governorship bye election.

Bindow, who transmitted his intent letter to the APC leadership yesterday, said that the development was informed by decision of stakeholders of the party who after due consultations have endorsed his candidature based on his track records.

The lawmaker, who was one of those former PDP members of the National Assembly that defected to the APC ,disclosed that against all odds, he mobilized other senators to that effect because APC is a party to beat in Nigeria.

According to him, he has a burning passion for the development of the state, hence, intend to use his vantage position to extend the transformation to all sectors of the state by embarking on people oriented programmes when given the mandate.

Responding, the state secretary of the party, Alhaji Abdullahi Bakari, declared that the APC leadership would be neutral in who should fly the party’s ticket adding that the acceptance of a candidate of the party should be at the ward, local government, zonal and state level of the party.

Bakari debunked the insinuation that the APC is dead following the impeachment of former Governor Murtala Nyako stressing that the party is wagging stronger and stronger day by day because it is a grassroot party with its followership cutting across the state.

He disclosed that the eight members of the House of Representatives in the state, irrespective of party affiliations, have given their blessings to Bindow.
