The Kano People’s Rights Alliance has called on residents of the state to remain vigilant and support the administration of Governor Abba Yusuf in its efforts to promote transparency and accountability.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Chairman of the group, Maikano Danlami, said the fight against corruption required the collective involvement of government and citizens.
Danlami said residents must actively demand transparency in governance and hold public officials accountable in the interest of good governance.
He added that the alliance would continue to advocate for the rights and welfare of the people of Kano, stressing the need to protect public resources and ensure that citizens’ voices are heard.
According to him, building a state committed to accountability and the welfare of its people requires unity and sustained civic engagement.
The group also appealed to stakeholders, including civil society organisations and the media, to partner in promoting accountability and strengthening democratic values in the state.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Government reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and due process.
In a joint statement by the Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, and the Director General, Media and Publicity, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the government said Governor Yusuf remained resolute in upholding the rule of law.
The statement noted that the governor had directed the appropriate anti-corruption agency to carry out an investigation in line with due process, describing the move as part of his administration’s broader commitment to accountability.
The government assured residents that all actions taken by the administration would continue to reflect the interests and welfare of the people of Kano State.
