‘We Won’t Abandon You’, Gov Uba Sani Confronts Pain of Kidnapped Christians’ Families

In a moment heavy with grief, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has walked directly into the heartbreak gripping Kurmin Wali, Kajuru Local Government Area, visiting families whose loved ones were abducted during coordinated attacks on Christian worshippers.

Calming down tearful relatives, the governor delivered a firm and personal assurance: every abducted Christian will be brought back safely.

The visit, described by residents as emotionally reassuring, has drawn widespread commendation from civil society and community leaders across Southern Kaduna. Leading the voices of support is the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), which hailed the governor’s action as a defining show of leadership at a time of fear, confusion and rising anxiety.

SOKAPU President, Engr. Samuel Tabara, praised Governor Sani for choosing presence over platitudes, noting that his decision to walk alongside grieving families — rather than issue distant statements — reflected a rare blend of empathy and strategic seriousness. He assured the governor of continued prayers and unwavering support, expressing confidence in his capacity to see the crisis through and deliver on his mandate.

Addressing the community, Governor Sani reaffirmed that his administration is working closely with the military, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force and the Office of the National Security Adviser to ensure the immediate and safe rescue of the abducted worshippers.

He warned against attempts to politicise the tragedy, stressing that the priority must remain the sanctity of human life, not competing narratives or numbers.

Residents turned out in large numbers to receive the governor, many openly weeping as grief blended with renewed hope. The atmosphere, observers said, reflected a community battered but not broken.

“Beyond rescue efforts, the governor announced plans to support the injured, push for a permanent security presence in the area, and fast-track critical infrastructure such as access roads and healthcare facilities to strengthen long-term safety and resilience”, a resident, Moses Magaji told newsmen.

Reacting afterwards, Christian, Muslim and traditional leaders variously described the visit as timely and transformative — a powerful signal that government has not turned its back on any citizen, regardless of faith or identity.
