President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, for its commitment to academic excellence and congratulated it on its 45th Convocation Ceremony.
In a speech delivered on his behalf by the Hon. Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, President Tinubu praised the university’s efforts to align with the Federal Government’s Tertiary Institutions Governance and Transparency Programme, which aims to enhance accountability and transparency in Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.
The President also highlighted government initiatives to improve the welfare of tertiary institution staff, including the introduction of a Staff Loan Scheme, which provides zero-interest loans to employees.
Tinubu urged the graduates to use their knowledge effectively and focus on creating jobs rather than seeking employment.
He emphasized the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship, citing the Federal Government’s Students’ Innovation Venture Capital Grant (S-VCG) as an opportunity for students to turn their ideas into reality.
The President also drew attention to the National Implementation Guidelines on Drug and Substance Use in Nigerian Institutions, stressing the need to address the rising incidence of drug abuse among students.
Tinubu congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to be agents of positive change, saying, “The sky is just a starting point. May God be with you.”
