Breaking: Fire breaks out at Murtala Muhammed International Airport

A fire broke out at the old terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos on Monday, creating panic among passengers and airport workers.

The blaze affected a section of the terminal currently undergoing a major renovation project worth several billions of naira. Thick smoke was seen rising from the building as emergency responders rushed to contain the fire.

Operations around the affected area were temporarily disrupted while firefighters battled the flames. Security officials cordoned off parts of the terminal to prevent further risk to lives and property. Eyewitnesses reported that the fire spread quickly within minutes before being brought under control. Several workers at the renovation site were evacuated for safety.

As of the time of reporting, the exact cause of the fire is still unknown. Authorities have not yet released an official statement on the extent of the damage or whether there were any casualties.
