The Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has approved the payment of scholarships for 148 indigenes of the state admitted into the 2026 academic session of the Nigerian Law School.

The announcement was made yesterday during a joint meeting of the Yobe State Scholarships Board convened for the formal disbursement of the funds.

Governor Buni was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Bello Kawuwa.

He said each beneficiary will receive a comprehensive support package totaling ₦475,000, which includes a brand-new laptop to facilitate their academic pursuits.

The Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Scholarship Board, Dr. Kagu Abubakar, confirmed the details, stating the intervention is designed to ease the financial burden on the students and enhance their performance at the prestigious institution.

This latest intervention brings the total number of law graduates sponsored by the Buni administration from 2020 to an impressive 719.

He said, the majority of these previous beneficiaries have since completed their studies and are now practicing lawyers, contributing to the justice sector and national development.

Governor Buni also approved financial support for 11 candidates undertaking resit examinations at the Nigerian Law School.

“This reaffirms the government’s resolve to ensure no Yobe indigene is left behind in the pursuit of professional qualification.

“The sustained investment in education has become a defining hallmark of the Buni administration.” He emphasized.

Kagu added that, through deliberate and purposeful policies, the government continues to expand access to higher education, empower youth with competitive skills, and build a generation of professionals capable of driving sustainable development in Yobe State and beyond.
