Taraba Varsity ASUU Suspends industrial Action After N500m Deal with Govt

The academic staff union of universities ASUU, Taraba state University has officially suspended the indefinite strike action embarked since 18th. February, 2026.
Dr. Joshua Garba Mbave, the ASUU chairman told our Correspondent that the union and her non academic counterpart, have successfully reached an agreement with the state government before taking the decision.
Mbave also disclosed that both the academic and non academic staff of the institution had earlier accepted the sum of 500 million Naira offer by governor Agbu Kefas to suspend the industrial disharmony at the institution.
“Yes, strike is officially suspended”. Dr. Mbave informed.
“We have reached a healthy agreement with the state government this afternoon, and the indefinite strike action embarked by the union since February 18th, is suspended.
“We commend governor Kefas and all relevant stakeholders who ensure that we resume academic activities at the university. We appealed to state government to be sensitive to the agreement in order not to disrupt academic calendar at the university,” he said.
