Tinubu an exceptional leader – PEBEC DG

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been described as the greatest leader that has ever ruled Nigeria for his exceptional leadership in decerning the structural problems of the time and ability to build institutions rather than merely occupy them.

Director-General of Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), and National Publicity Secretary, City Boy Movement, Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu while speaking on Tinubu’s political trajectory in Abuja Saturday said the former Lagos Governor was Nigeria’s greatest-ever leader and had leaved up to more demanding test of leadership which she highlighted as recognizing structural problems of the time.

She further said that Tinubu was distinguished by challenging what other leaders postponed, building institutions, developing political and administrative capacity and making decisions whose significance extends beyond the immediate electoral calendar.

Princess Audu noted that Tinubu ended ‘Politics of Postponement’ by removal petrol subsidy which she described as consequential saying that previous administrations understood the problem but struggled to resolve it permanently.

According to her, “The transition has imposed genuine hardship on Nigerians. Any intellectually credible defence of reform must acknowledge this. But hardship does not settle the policy question.

“The relevant question is whether the previous arrangement could have been sustained indefinitely — and what the eventual cost of continued postponement would have been. Leadership sometimes requires choosing not between difficulty and comfort, but between the difficulty of adjustment today and the greater danger of structural failure tomorrow” she said.

Speaking on the ease-of-doing-business, she said PEBEC and the broader business facilitation framework had the objective of not only making bureaucracy more convenient, but to reduce the institutional cost of being productive in Nigeria.

She said, “The philosophy underlying these reforms is more significant than any individual procedure: Government should facilitate legitimate enterprise rather than constitute an obstacle to it. Nigeria has never been more efficient and accountable; this is only possible because of President Tinubu’s commitment to building a $1 Trillion Dollar Economy by 2030”.

Audu emphasized that Tinubu’s political career had been characterised by an unusual willingness to expend political capital rather than simply accumulate it, saying that it matters, as Nigeria cannot currently point to any other leader with a comparable record of building leaders and planning diligently for the future.

She said the argument for President Tinubu as Nigeria’s greatest-ever leader does not rest upon a single policy or moment, but rests upon accumulation of political struggle, development of people, institutions and ultimately the accumulation of difficult decisions taken.
