Military Secretary tasks officers on effective career planning
The Military Secretary, Army, Maj.-Gen. Everest Okoro, has advised officers on effective career planning to ensure their progression in the military service.
Okoro gave the advice while delivering a career sensitisation lecture to officers of the 1 Division Nigerian Army in Kaduna.
The lecture, held at the Lt.-Gen.Toareed Lagbaja Hall, Ribadu Cantonment, was aimed at enhancing career development, professionalism and leadership capacity among officers.
Okoro, in his lecture, highlighted the importance of effective career planning, stressing that proper management of postings, promotions, courses and other entitlements remained critical to professional development.
He said the lecture was part of the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy of transforming the Nigerian Army into a more professional, adaptable, combat-ready and resilient force capable of discharging its constitutional responsibilities.
In his remarks, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division and Commander, Sector 1 Operation Fansan Yamma, Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Wase, said the session was a strategic initiative designed to strengthen personnel management within the army.
Wase noted that operational effectiveness must be complemented by structured career management to sustain morale, discipline and professional growth.
He urged officers to take responsibility for their career progression through continuous learning, discipline and dedication to duty.
The lecture was attended by officers from various formations, units and establishments within the 1 Division area of responsibility.
