The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has congratulated Nigerian Muslims on the successful completion of Ramadan, expressing optimism that their prayers and supplications will usher the nation into a new dawn.
In his Sallah message marking the end of the holy month, Speaker Abbas said Allah (SWT) has shown immense mercy to Nigeria despite its socio-economic, security, and political challenges.
He noted that divine intervention, through consistent prayers, remains a key factor sustaining the country’s unity, peace, and stability.
He urged Muslims to uphold the virtues of piety, selflessness, and charity imbibed during Ramadan, stressing that Nigerians must not relent in praying for a better society.
“Alhamdulillah, we have witnessed the Holy Month of Ramadan peacefully and now bid farewell to a spiritually significant period in the life of every Muslim,” he said. “May Allah accept all our acts of worship and reward us abundantly.”
Speaker Abbas also highlighted the unique overlap between Ramadan and the Christian Lenten season, describing it as a divine reminder of unity and shared purpose among Nigerians, regardless of faith.
Similarly, the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, extended warm Eid-el-Fitr greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, praying for peace, prosperity, and national unity.
Kalu called on Muslims to continue reflecting on the values of sacrifice, compassion, resilience, and optimism, assuring that the government is making efforts to tackle the nation’s challenges.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the National Assembly to enacting laws that will improve living standards, drive economic growth, and create opportunities for Nigerians.
“As we celebrate, let us remain steadfast and hopeful. The dawn of a brighter tomorrow is near,” Kalu said, urging citizens to continue praying for unity and peace while upholding the teachings of Prophet Mohammed (SWT).
Both leaders emphasized the importance of sustained prayers and collective responsibility in building a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria.
