Chief Dan Orbih, former National Vice Chairman (South-South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and prominent ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike is dead.
Orbih died on Monday, August 31, 2026, according to a statement issued by his family.
The death was announced in a statement signed by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih on behalf of the family, describing his death as a painful loss.
“With profound sadness and a heavy heart but in total submission to the will of the Almighty God, the family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih announce the passing of our beloved brother, husband, father and uncle, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, who passed away on Monday, 31 August 2026.”.
Orbih was one of Wike’s closest political associates and a leading figure in the South-South bloc of the PDP.
He played a significant role in the party’s affairs in Edo State and was widely regarded as one of Wike’s loyal allies during the internal crisis that rocked the PDP.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Florence Orbih; his daughters, Ms. Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr. Mildred Omonemi Orbih; his brothers and sisters; and other members of the extended family.
The family appealed to relatives, friends and well-wishers to remember them in prayers during this period of mourning.
According to the statement, “At this difficult time, we ask family members, friends and well-wishers to remember the entire family in their prayers as we mourn this painful loss.
“Further details will be announced in due course.”
The family said funeral arrangements will be announced later. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement added.
