Adamawa: Ardo counsels PDP against imposition of candidate

Date:

From Umar Dankano, Yola

As contestants continue to brace up ahead of the scheduled Adamawa governorship bye election, one of the contenders under Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Umar Ardo, has cautioned the party leadership in the state to avoid imposition of candidate as this could jeopardize the chances of the party in the state at the October 11th bye election.

Speaking in Yola yesterday while addressing party executives on his ambition, Ardo said that he has no money to offer but he has the heart to deliver if he emerges the governor of the state.

The three time aspirant stressed the need for the party(PDP) to conduct free and fair primary for the emergence of the party’s candidate.

“A good name is better than gold and diamond; you must not betray the over three million people of Adamawa. If you do that, you are not better than the former governor, Murtala Nyako, that we are accusing of betraying the people”, Ardo said.

He told the delegates that,” I have no money but I have the heart to deliver selfless service when elected as the next governor of the state.

“This is my third time of participating in the primaries. I contested in 2010, 2011 and now I am contesting in 2014. I join this fight for justice”, Ardo said.

He explained that some of his opponents have money to offer but cautioned delegates not to betray the people of Adamawa by selling their votes.

Ardo said when he emerged governor, he would declared what he takes as salary and allowance and would not touch a single kobo apart from that and would also not allow anyone to take a single kobo.

He said the major problem like unemployment facing the state and nation at large was due to corruption, adding that he would embark on wealth creation through agriculture.
