IGP Disu Visits DSS DG, Reaffirms Security Collaboration

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Monday paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja, reaffirming the strong partnership between both institutions in safeguarding national security.

During the visit, IGP Disu described the DSS as a critical but often unseen partner in national security operations, noting that successful missions are rarely achieved without the agency’s involvement.

He stressed the need for sustained collaboration, highlighting key areas of mutual interest including election security, counter-terrorism, VIP protection, cybercrime prevention, and the fight against economic sabotage.

The police chief also called for enhanced intelligence sharing and proposed joint training initiatives to boost operational effectiveness. He reiterated his commitment to strengthening synergy between the Nigeria Police Force and the DSS to ensure national stability.

In his response, the DSS Director-General commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Disu as IGP, citing his experience and dedication to service. He also acknowledged the Federal Government’s support for the Police, particularly in the renovation of training institutions across the country.

The DSS boss expressed confidence in the IGP’s ability to build on the achievements of his predecessors and further advance policing in Nigeria. He assured that the Service would continue to maintain robust intelligence sharing and joint operations with the Police, describing the partnership as vital to national security.

IGP Disu reaffirmed his resolve to deepen cooperation between both agencies, emphasizing their shared responsibility to protect the nation, strengthen intelligence collaboration, and promote institutional harmony.
