Factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Tanimu Turaki, has disclosed that the party recently led a delegation on a solidarity visit to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by former Senate President David Mark.
Turaki said the visit was aimed at strengthening cooperation among opposition figures amid growing political challenges in the country.
According to him, the meeting brought together key political actors, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, where discussions centred on the need for unity in confronting pressures facing opposition parties.
He noted that the delegation, which also included Seyi Makinde, Adolphus Wabara and Jerry Gana, engaged in frank talks on the state of Nigeria’s democracy and the challenges affecting political plurality.
Turaki explained that the visit reflected a shared commitment among opposition leaders to defend democratic values and ensure the survival of a vibrant opposition in the country.
He stressed that both parties acknowledged the need to protect space for dissenting voices and promote inclusive political engagement, describing the move as part of broader efforts to prioritise national interest over party differences.
The PDP chieftain added that the engagement highlighted a growing alignment among opposition stakeholders determined to safeguard democratic principles and strengthen collaboration ahead of future political contests.
