2027: ADC on Rescue Mission, Says Tambuwal

Former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has declared that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is on a mission to “rescue” Nigeria from what he described as the misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Tambuwal made the assertion on Saturday in Sokoto while addressing journalists shortly after the successful conduct of the party’s state congress.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives, who currently represents Sokoto South Senatorial District, said the ADC remains the only viable platform capable of salvaging the country from the leadership of the APC under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to him, the APC-led Federal Government has failed Nigerians across key sectors, citing persistent insecurity, widespread poverty, and rising unemployment.

Tambuwal expressed confidence that an ADC-led administration would decisively address these challenges and reposition Nigeria towards growth and stability.

He further alleged that the current administration had undermined opposition parties, including the Labour Party and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), in a bid to weaken political opposition.

The lawmaker, however, maintained that such efforts had failed to halt the growing coalition of opposition forces, noting that the successful conduct of the ADC congress in Sokoto was a testament to the party’s resilience.

Tambuwal also emphasised the importance of a multiparty democratic system, stressing that it must be preserved and strengthened.

He criticised the outcome of the 2023 presidential election, alleging electoral malpractice, and expressed optimism that the APC would be voted out in 2027.

“We will retire APC in 2027 at both the national and state levels. Nigerians must rally behind ADC to achieve this objective,” he said.

He urged residents of Sokoto State to join the ADC in large numbers and remain united in pursuit of what he described as the collective goal of liberating both the state and the country.

Tambuwal commended party members in the state for their peaceful participation and large turnout during the congress.
