The Nigeria Police Force has unsealed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, restoring access to a faction reportedly backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Factional National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, disclosed this in a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, on Saturday in Abuja.
Mohammed said the secretariat, alongside the party’s presidential campaign office, Legacy House in Maitama, was unsealed in compliance with valid court orders.
According to him, the property has been handed over to the Mohammed-led National Working Committee, with Samuel Anyanwu recognised as National Secretary.
He commended the police for what he described as professionalism and respect for the rule of law.
“This action is a clear demonstration of respect for constitutional order and due process,” he said.
Mohammed warned against any attempt to obstruct activities at the secretariat, noting that security agencies were on alert to deal with violators.
He added that the development should reassure party members that recent internal disputes had been resolved, urging aggrieved members to embrace unity in the collective interest of the party.
Mohammed also appreciated party leaders and stakeholders, particularly Wike, describing his support as invaluable.
Meanwhile, a rival faction led by Tanimu Turaki has rejected the action, describing the unsealing as contemptuous.
The faction’s spokesman, Ini Ememobong, argued that the court judgment cited by the police had already been appealed, with all parties duly notified.
“By this action, they have tampered with the res, which could render the Court of Appeal’s judgment nugatory,” he said.
Ememobong criticised the move as dishonourable, alleging that those responsible for upholding the law were acting in disregard of it and suggesting possible partisan interference by the police.
He, however, urged members of the faction to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring that lawful steps would be taken to protect the rights of what he described as genuine PDP members.
“The public should remain hopeful that this dark cloud will pass and democratic norms will prevail.
“Though pain may tarry at night, joy will come in the morning. Let us endure with hope,” he said.
The police had initially sealed the secretariat and Legacy House in November 2025 following clashes between rival factions at Wadata Plaza.
