2027: Momodu predicts strong opposition alliance, says APC ‘uneasy’

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has expressed confidence that a joint presidential ticket featuring Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi would pose a serious challenge in the 2027 general elections.
Momodu spoke during an appearance on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television, monitored in Abuja, where he assessed emerging political alignments ahead of the next election cycle.
He argued that both Atiku and Obi already share political chemistry, having contested together in the 2019 presidential election, and could easily consolidate their existing support base if paired again under the ADC.
According to him, Obi’s performance in the last election further strengthens the potential of such a ticket, as it would not require significant effort to mobilise his loyal supporters.
Momodu also suggested that the growing convergence of opposition figures within the ADC is unsettling the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming the party is increasingly wary of a united front against it.
He maintained that despite the APC’s control of key political structures, including governors and federal lawmakers, there are visible signs of anxiety within its ranks over the possibility of a formidable opposition coalition ahead of 2027.
