NIPR Commends Gov. Uba Sani’s Security Initiative, Says Kaduna Insecurity Overstated

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has commended Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, for establishing a Command and Control Centre as an intelligence hub to combat insecurity, noting that the state’s security challenges are often exaggerated.

Chairman of the Planning Committee for the Nigerian Public Relations Week (NPRW) Croc City 2026, Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, made the remarks during a media tour of government projects in Kaduna.

After inspecting the Command and Control Centre, Badejo-Okusanya acknowledged that while Kaduna, like other states, faces security challenges, the situation is “not as bad as people think.”

He revealed that the Institute had faced pressure not to host the 2026 NPRW in Kaduna due to safety concerns.

“Yes, it has some challenges like every other place, but efforts have been made to tackle this issue, and secondly, it’s not as severe as portrayed,” he said.

He further urged the state government to publicise its security strategies nationwide and recommended that the Command and Control Centre model be replicated across all 23 local government areas.

The media tour also covered several key projects, including Badarawa Primary Healthcare Centre, Kawo General Hospital, Government Secondary School Nasarawan Rigachukun, the Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development, and the Kakuri Southern Terminal, currently under construction.

At Badarawa Primary Healthcare Centre, the Commissioner for Health, Umma Ahmad, disclosed that the state had upgraded all 255 primary healthcare centres to Level 2 facilities, offering 24-hour services such as basic emergency care, obstetric services, and neonatal care.

She added that the government has improved healthcare delivery through better remuneration for health workers, enhanced hazard allowances, and strengthened referral systems.

At the Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development, the Provost, Hussaini Haruna Muhammad, said the institution operates three campuses serving the northern, central, and southern senatorial districts.

He noted that the institute offers 14 trade areas, including internationally recognised National Skills Qualification (NSQ) courses, as well as short-term and artisan certification programmes. He added that the Rigachukun campus currently has 497,000 students.

The delegation also toured a 35-kilometre road project linking Igabi, Kajuru, and Chikun Local Government Areas, including a 130-metre bridge over the Kaduna River.

Managing Director of the Kaduna Roads Agency (KADRA), Baba Ahmed, said the project has significantly improved mobility, boosted agricultural activities, and enhanced rural economies.
