From Gambo Ahmed lafia
Professor Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana, the Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has officially declared his intention to contest the Nasarawa West Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
Presenting his letter of interest to the State Executive Committee at the party secretariat in Lafia on Tuesday, Prof. Kana anchored his declaration on a plea for party discipline, loyalty, and unity.
Prof. Kana, a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Nasarawa State, emphasized that adherence to the party constitution and respect for leadership are non-negotiable for any aspirant.
He said: “I am appealing to all aspirants to accord respect to party leaders and our amiable Governor, A.A. Sule, for the benefit and progress of our great party,.
“I am here to assure you of my absolute loyalty. I humbly call on others to come together and support whoever God chooses to lead in 2027.”
In a significant political move, Prof. Kana threw his weight behind Governor Abdullahi Sule’s reported preference for Senator Ahmed Wadada, describing the choice as a “step in the right direction.”
He urged the people of Nasarawa to rally behind Senator Wadada’s localized contributions and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s national reform agenda, advocating for the President’s re-election in 2027 to ensure developmental continuity.
The State APC Chairman, Dr. Aliyu Bello, received the declaration warmly, praising Prof. Kana’s integrity and his track record at both the state and federal levels.
However, he reminded the aspirant that the real work lies with the electorate.
Dr. Bello urged Prof. Kana, to take his campaign to the grassroots to test and showcase his popularity.
The Chairman reaffirmed that the APC remains inclusive and will accommodate all qualified aspirants.
A Warning Against Gossip: Bello cautioned aspirants against “street gossip” and divisive rhetoric, urging them to focus on value-driven campaigns that move the party forward.
