Alex Addingi, the former Special Adviser on International Investment to the Benue State Governor, has officially entered the race for the House of Representatives, promising to leverage his global expertise to transform the Buruku Federal Constituency.
Addingi made his formal declaration on Monday at the NUJ House in Makurdi, presenting a blueprint focused on industrial agriculture, digital literacy, and international educational partnerships.
Addingi’s pitch to the electorate centers on moving away from subsistence farming toward high-yield industrial venture.
He disclosed a plan to initiate large-scale cultivation of hybrid palm trees, aiming to position Buruku as Nigeria’s premier palm oil hub.
He also revealed that training is already underway for 5,000 youths in digital skills to tackle unemployment and curb social vices.
Leveraging his previous role, Addingi revealed he is brokering deals with Chinese partners to furnish local schools with modern labs and facilitate scholarships for Buruku students to study in China.
Addressing his motivations, Addingi sought to distance himself from the typical trappings of political office.
“I am not interested in building mansions or buying flashy cars. My focus is on developing my people.
“Buruku lags behind in development, and I am here to change that narrative through wealth creation and a lasting legacy,” he stated.
The aspirant highlighted his track record under Governor Alia, noting his role in: Organizing the first Benue International Investment Summit.
Addingi further noted that the current zoning arrangements in the constituency favor his candidacy, expressing confidence that his vision aligns perfectly with the aspirations of the Buruku people.
