Edo FA Cup: Insurance Thrash St. Andrews, book President Federation Cup Qualification

Bendel Insurance Football Club,on Wednesday ,April 22,2026 defeated ST. Andrews FC 3-0 in the second Semifinals match of Edo FA cup to secure qualification for the 2026 President Cup Tournament.
The Benin Arsenals will be defending the Edo FA cup they have been winning consecutively since 2019 against Westgate FC on Sunday, April 26. The final match is scheduled to hold at 4pm on Sunday at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium,Benin.
Insurance FC final opponents Westgate FC defeated Inne Stars last week to reach the Edo FA cup final for the first time.
The defending champions Bendel Insurance FC and Westgate FC have already qualified for the President Federation Cup Tournament irrespective of the outcome of the FA cup final match on Sunday.
Bendel Insurance FC who went into the semifinals clash with ST. Andrews at the Crescent Sports Club field with confidence following their impressive 2-1 away victory against Wikki Tourists FC on Sunday scored all their three goals in the first half to avenge the beating of their Feeders team by ST. Andrews FC in the second round of the tournament.
Promise Anyanwu opened scoring for the Benin Arsenals 14 minutes into the game to silence the noisy fans of ST. Andrews FC.
Akuneto Chijioke who was the man of the match struck twice in quick succession to extend the the lead for the defending champions in the 27th and 30th minutes.
Insurance coaching crew made good use of their bench, making complete substitution as they used the entire second half of the game as training session after their two dependable defenders Itoro Promise and Ugwu Emmanuel had suffered serious injuries which forced them out of the match. They refused to give room for complacency and showed their superiority throughout the encounter.
The team Doctor is yet to confirm the degree of injury Itoro Promise sustaied which looked like simple fracture as at the time he was taken to the hospital.
In the case of Ugwu Emmanuel,it was immediately determined that his left eyebrow tear has already been taken care of by the club’s medical team
