Operatives of the Niger State Police Command attached to the ‘B’ Division in Bida have arrested 30-year-old Agada Isaac (popularly known as “Tee-light”) for possession of an illegal firearm and military accouterments.
​The suspect, a resident of a lodge near the Federal Polytechnic Bida, was apprehended during a routine patrol.
​According to a statement issued in Minna by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Wasiu Abiodun, Isaac was spotted on a motorcycle approaching a temporary police checkpoint. Upon sighting the officers, the suspect jumped off the motorcycle and attempted to flee, prompting a chase.
​A spot search of the suspect led to the recovery of a Beretta pistol. Subsequent to his arrest, police conducted a search of his residence, where they discovered a military camouflage cap ​Military-style knickers.
​During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to being a member of the “Vikings” cult group. He claimed he purchased the pistol from an individual known as Gideon (alias “Starboy”) in Suleja for N300,000.
​While Isaac claimed to be a campus photographer and insisted the military gear was a gift from a friend, the police are treating the matter as a serious security breach.
​SP Abiodun confirmed that the suspect remains in custody for further investigation.
Meanwhile, active efforts are underway to track down the supplier, Gideon, and other potential accomplices.
