The Director-General/Chief Executive of the National Teachers’ Institute, Kaduna, Dr. Aminu Ladan Sharehu has called for urgent and sustained move in promoting Socio-Economic Skills through Social Studies and Civic Education in Nigeria.
The Director-General made this call at 2014 the Social Studies and Civic Educators Association of Nigeria (SOSCEAN)’s National Annual Conference, held at the Assembly Hall of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.
Dr. Aminu Ladan Sharehu, who chaired the conference, reaffirmed that Social Studies and Civic Education will provide the much-needed new direction which the country yearns for her transformation drive towards the top twenty world economies in 2020.
He added that as a nation, Nigerians need to renew their commitment and redouble their efforts in assisting the government to realize her set goals.
Dr. Aminu Ladan Sharehu tasked experts at the conference on the need to re-orientate the Nigerian citizens who will be proud of their country and willing to contribute to its overall development so that it will take center stage in the comity of nations.

The conference is expected to last for three days with participants lined up for presentation, discussion and developing of curriculum for the newly introduced course.
