Corps Members Urged to Drive Positive Change Through Skills Acquisition in Taraba

The Taraba State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr. Ella Aji Williams, has urged the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II corps members posted to the state to use the skills acquired during the orientation course to drive positive change in their places of primary assignment.

Williams gave the charge during the closing ceremony of the three-week orientation exercise held in Jalingo, stating that the programme was designed to instill discipline, promote unity, and equip corps members with entrepreneurial and life skills for self-reliance.

According to him, the orientation programme was aimed at preparing participants for national service while encouraging them to become creators of opportunities and agents of development in society.

“Over the past three weeks, you have undergone a rigorous transformative induction meticulously crafted to instill discipline, foster unity, and prepare you for the experiences of national service,” he said.

He noted that the corps members demonstrated resilience and adaptability throughout the exercise, which included drills, civic education, entrepreneurship training, and cultural activities.

Williams urged the corps members to uphold the values of integrity, diligence, humility, and selflessness in their host communities.

“Embrace your host communities with sincerity and respect. Immerse yourselves in meaningful engagements and make tangible contributions through your community development service projects.

“You are not merely participants in a programme; you are protagonists in the story of Nigeria’s progress,” he added.

The NYSC coordinator also commended Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, for his commitment to youth development and national integration, noting that the state government’s support contributed to the successful conduct of the orientation exercise.

He further appreciated camp officials, security agencies, and support staff for their contributions to the success of the programme and advised corps members to remain security conscious and cooperate with relevant authorities throughout their service year.
