There was pandemonium at the national secretariat of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abuja on Thursday as supporters of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar flooded the venue during the submission of his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the 2027 presidential election.

The atmosphere at the party headquarters turned chaotic hours before Atiku’s arrival as hundreds of supporters and loyalists besieged the premises, struggling to gain access to the hall designated for the submission exercise.

Eyewitnesses said the surging crowd overwhelmed security personnel and private bouncers stationed at the entrance as supporters attempted to force their way into the venue.

In the ensuing commotion, entrance doors to the hall were reportedly damaged after supporters pushed past security operatives and surged into the building.

The disorder temporarily disrupted activities at the secretariat, with journalists, party officials and invited guests finding it difficult to gain access amid the heavy crowd.

Some journalists covering the event were also reportedly shoved aside as supporters flooded the hall shortly after breaching the entrance.

Despite the tension and disorder, the submission exercise eventually proceeded under tight security.
