
Katsina Police arrest man seeking womb of new born for ritual
Police have arrested a 50 year old man, Sagir Muntari, who was allegedly caught at the General Hospital Funtua seeking to secure the womb of a new born for ritual.
A statement issued on Saturday by DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, spokesman for Katsina State Police Command, said the man was arrested after a hospital staff noticed him wandering suspiciously within the hospital premises.
“On May 9, 2026, at about 1700hrs, the Chief Security Officer of General Hospital Funtua reported to the station that at about 4:20pm, one of the hospital staff drew his attention to an unidentified person seen wandering suspiciously within the hospital premises.
“Detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene and successfully arrested the suspect, identified as Sagir Muntari, male, aged 50.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to entering the hospital with the intent to obtain the womb of a newly born baby for use in spiritual and criminal charm activities.
“Investigation is ongoing. The suspect will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation,” the statement added.
The Police warned that it would not spare anyone found involved in criminal and ritual-related activities, and assured the public of its commitment to safeguarding lives, public institutions, and health facilities in the state.
The command urged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements and activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines.
