Gov Radda Disowns Aide Caught Involved in Kidnapping 

Katsina State Government has disowned an aide of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, who masterminded the abduction of his neighbour’s 8-year-old child.

The suspect, Nura Aliyu Garwa, a Senior Special Assistant on Community Development to Governor Radda, was arrested by the police and six others in connection with the abduction and the collection of N17 million ransom before releasing the boy.

Since their arrest, the government has been making efforts to distance itself from the suspect, the latest been a statement by the Commissioner of Information, Dr Salisu Bala Zango, who said that Nura Aliyu Garwa was sacked from his position long before this incident, for diverting empowerment materials.

He said, “The suspected mastermind of a kidnapping syndicate Nura Aliyu Garwa, involving the kidnapping of an 8-year-old boy at Sardauna Estate in Katsina Metropolis, had been suspended as SSA on Community Development to Katsina State Governor, His Excellency Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, earlier before his intention to contest for the seat of member, Katsina State House of Assembly in Batsari Local Government Area of the state.

“Nura Aliyu Garwa was suspended by the State Government for his involvement in the diversion of empowerment materials meant for distribution to communities in Batsari Local Government, under the state government Community Development Program.”

According to him, Governor Radda described the activities of the gang as unfortunate, particularly as it involves a profile individual who even aspired to be a member of the state House of Assembly.

Radda commended the state police command and other security agencies in the state for their commitment to secure the state, and called on the public to report suspicious activities to security agencies.
