Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the Lagos State governorship election.
Rhodes-Vivour clinched the party’s ticket after defeating his closest challenger, Owolabi Salis, in the ADC governorship primary.
Announcing the result, the chairman of the primary election committee, Oladimeji Fabiyi, declared Rhodes-Vivour winner after he secured 12,948 votes against Salis’ 6,183 votes.
The victory marks another major political comeback attempt for Rhodes-Vivour, who has remained a prominent opposition figure in Lagos politics and continues to attract support from young voters and reform-minded groups.
In his acceptance speech, Rhodes-Vivour described the outcome as a collective victory for supporters seeking a new direction for Lagos State.
“This victory belongs to all of us who believe in a better future,” he said, while pledging to continue building what he called a movement centred on hope, accountability, and progress.
His emergence is expected to reshape the political contest in Lagos ahead of the governorship election, with observers anticipating a fierce battle among the major parties in the state.
