From Bashir Rabe Mani, Sokoto

The Sokoto State Gubernatorial Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’iya (Walin Sokoto), has extended warm felicitations to the people of Sokoto State, Nigerians, and the Muslim Ummah worldwide on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

In a Sallah message issued through his Press Secretary, Aminu Abdullahi, Hon. Dan’iya called on Muslims to uphold the virtues of sacrifice, obedience, patience, love, and compassion as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS), stressing that the lessons of Eid-el-Kabir remain vital in promoting unity, peaceful coexistence, and national development.

The ADC gubernatorial candidate urged Nigerians not to lose hope despite the current economic hardship and insecurity confronting the nation, noting that collective prayers, unity, and responsible leadership remain critical to overcoming the present challenges.

Hon. Dan’iya also used the opportunity to call on the 2026 Sokoto State Hajj contingent currently in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to remember Sokoto State and Nigeria in their prayers during the holy pilgrimage.

He appealed to the pilgrims to pray for lasting peace, improved security, economic stability, and progress for the country at a time many Nigerians are facing difficult living conditions.

“We pray Almighty Allah to accept your Hajj and all acts of worship. May your pilgrimage be rewarded with Hajj Mabrur, and may Allah bring you back home safely in good health and peace,” the statement added.

Furthermore, Hon. Dan’iya encouraged eligible Nigerians, particularly youths and first-time voters, who are yet to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration and PVC issuance exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which is expected to continue until July 10, 2026.

He emphasized that possession of a PVC remains the only constitutional means through which citizens can actively participate in the 2027 general elections and contribute towards shaping the future leadership and governance of the country.

According to him, “Citizens must not sit back and complain without participating in the democratic process. Those without PVCs will be unable to exercise their civic rights during the 2027 elections.”
