Sokoto gov’t donates over 200 vehicles to boost security

The Sokoto State Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Dadi Adare says the state government has donated more than 200 vehicles to support security agencies in the last three years.
He said that the donation was part of efforts being made by Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto to ensure the protection of lives and properties across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.
Our Correspondent in Sokoto reports that the Commissioner made this known when he addressed newsmen on Friday in Sokoto on the three year anniversary of the governor.
Alhaji Ibrahim further said that the people-centered administration had also provided all necessary logistics support to bolster the efforts of the security agencies in the fight against banditry and other crimes.
To ensure community involvement in security, the Commissioner said that the Governor had also established the Community Guards Corps to secure local communities and support security agencies.
According to him, the aim was to ensure that all that was needed to provide security across the state is routinely and adequately provided.

On the third year anniversary, the Commissioner said the governor has been implementing his 9-point agenda smartly, and tremendous achievement have been made by the government.
In the area of education, Alhaji Ibrahim said there has been massive construction, rehabilitation and reconstruction of schools.
He has been building schools, providing cash allocation to principals so that minor repairs could be effected.
“We have seen what he has been doing in the rehabilitation and remodeling of Mosques, Islamiyah schools and providing support to Imams, Muezzams, among others.”
According to him, the Governor has also been doing well in supporting vulnerable people, including orphans, as well as the youths and women.
“This is through skills empowerment programmes in the areas of tailoring, knitting, welding, vulcanizing, soap making and several other aspects.
“This is with the intention of empowering them so that they can be self reliant and of course in doing that, it will provide the avenue for them to have some economic gains in multiples.
“This will in turn will ensure the sustainability of economic activities in our dear state.”
He also spoke on the giant strides made to address the perennial water scarcity in Sokoto, the state capital, in addition to infrastructure renewal such as roads and street lights.
“Under agriculture, we have seen what he has been doing through provision of fertilizers, chemicals, improved seeds, all to farmers free of charge to ensure sustainable food production in the
state.
“Several areas have been touched through rehabilitation and construction of roads, rural roads across communities in the state, and providing support to students in terms of scholarship both within the state, including abroad.”
“We hope that our people will continue to collaborate.and cooperate with the state government, we also hope that they will continue to pray and be hopeful, because the government is for the people and by the people and of the people.
“It has the people at heart, we need our people, we want to provide for them, we want to support them, and we want to ensure that our people are comfortable as much as possible.”
