NAHCON Reviews Operations, Releases 2027 Hajj Calendar

A post-Arafat stakeholders’ meeting organized by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) was held on the night of May 31, 2026, at La Rose Al Sindi Hall, Al Kakiyyah, Makkah, to review the handling of the 2026 Hajj and chart the way forward for future operations.
The meeting brought together NAHCON officials, State Pilgrims Welfare Boards, Hajj administrators, Ulama and other stakeholders involved in the 2026 Hajj exercise.
During the meeting, progress reports were presented on the Masha’ir operations covering Mina, Arafat, Muzdalifah and the Jamarat. Participants reviewed the successes recorded during the exercise as well as challenges encountered in the course of operations.
Among the major concerns raised were overcrowded accommodations at some locations, inadequate toilet facilities, substandard food services reported by some state contingents, health-related challenges among pilgrims and gaps in communication and information dissemination.
The National Ulama Team also presented a report highlighting its achievements in the enlightenment and spiritual guidance of Nigerian pilgrims from the point of departure in Nigeria through their stay in Madinah and Makkah. The team emphasized the importance of sustained religious guidance in ensuring the successful performance of Hajj rites by pilgrims.
As part of efforts to promote national unity and seek divine intervention for the country, State Pilgrims Welfare Boards were urged to organize special prayers and Tawaf on behalf of Nigeria.
In a significant development, NAHCON announced that the operational calendar for the 2027 Hajj exercise has been released. The early release of the timetable is expected to facilitate timely planning and preparations by states and other stakeholders ahead of next year’s pilgrimage.
