The Super Eagles will be without several key players for their upcoming international friendlies against Poland and Portugal, with Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Femi Azeez, Alhassan Yusuf, Tijani Samson, and Ebenezer Akinsanmiro all unavailable for selection.
Victor Osimhen will not take part in the friendlies as he focuses on resolving his club future with Galatasaray. with the season now over, this off-season period is crucial as discussions around transfers continue. there are offers currently on the table for the striker, and with a possible move being considered, all parties are being careful to avoid any injury setback.
Ademola Lookman will also miss both matches after being advised to rest following a demanding run of games at club level.
Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle explained that the decision was made to allow the forward recover properly from fatigue and carefully manage his workload ahead of next season.
Femi Azeez impressed during the Unity Cup with a solid outing, but he will not be available for the remaining fixtures as his club has declined to release him. the winger is also weighing up his future amid interest from clubs ahead of a possible summer move. his club is keen to avoid any injury risks during this period.
Alhassan Yusuf and Tijani Samson will both miss the games due to visa issues, as they were unable to secure entry visas for Poland and Portugal.
Ebenezer Akinsanmiro is also unavailable after falling ill. he was unable to feature during the Unity Cup because of his condition and remains out for the upcoming matches.
Eric Chelle has insisted that despite the absences, Nigeria will approach both fixtures with full seriousness and commitment using the players available, as he continues preparations with the squad.
Poland vs Nigeria, Wednesday, June 3, 2026 while Portugal vs Nigeria will hold a week later on June 10, at the Leiria stadium in Portugal
