Nigeria’s Under 15 national team, the Future Eagles on Saturday whitewashed Djibouti 5-0 in the second match of the football event at the ongoing 2018 Africa Youths Games in Algiers, Algeria.
Divine Nwachukwu scored a hat trick in the encounter while Chidera Ejiofor and Mohammed Ibrahim scored one apiece to consolidate the young eagles position on the group With the victory, Nigeria has qualified for the semifinal of the football event.
The Nigeria’s U-15 national team won their two matches consecutively against Morocco and Djibouti with maximum six points.
The two wins were enough for the team to top Group A while Morocco came second, however, Libya failed to show up for the tournament, leaving the group with three countries.
The Futures Eagles will face either Cameroon or the hosts Algeria depending who comes second in group B.
The Cameroon’s U-15 national team need a draw while Algeria need to win the match for either team to be at the top of group B table.
The first semi final match will come up on Wednesday.
The Future Eagles, it could be recalled, defeated Morocco in their opening match. They came from 2-0 down to beat the Moroccans 3-2.
Nigeria is the defending champions of the AYG football event which they won in 2014.
