Troops neutralise terrorist, arrest 8 suspects in Zamfara
Troops of Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA have neutralised one terrorist and arrested eight in separate operations Zamfara.
Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, made this known in a statement issued on Monday.
He said that troops of Sector 2 on fighting patrol to Birnin Tsaba and Tsanu villages in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area, on 5 June 2026, made contact with terrorists at Birnin Tsaba village, and following a firefight, neutralized one terrorist and recovered seven motorcycles.
Danja added that on 6 June 2026, troops responding to a terrorist attack at Anguwar Sarkin Musulmi village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, engaged some terrorists forcing them to flee into the bush.
According to him, on the same day, troops responded to reports of an attack on commuters along the Kaura Namoda–Zurmi Road.
“Investigations showed that the terrorists ambushed two civilian vehicles between Jabanda and Dauran villages in Zurmi Local Government Area. Troops secured the area, evacuated injured victims for medical treatment and have continued efforts to track the terrorists to rescue abducted passengers.
“Also on 6 June 2026, troops of Sector 2 conducting a fighting patrol in Tudun Wada and Dan Gulbi communities, Maru Local Government Area, arrested eight suspected bandits at Tudun Wada.
“The troops recovered seven motorcycles, communication equipment, mobile phones, power banks, military-style uniforms and other items. A structure used by the suspects was also destroyed.”
He added that two suspects were arrested on 5 June 2026 in possession of ammunition at Tupa village in Shinkafi Local Government Area.
“Operation FANSAN YAMMA remains committed to sustaining offensive operations against terrorists and bandits and urges members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.”
