
Radda praises Katsina-born Halima Sa’adu for excelling in U.S programme
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has hailed Miss Halima Sa’adu, a student of Sarki Umar Faruq Umar Secondary School, Daura, for her excelling in the prestigious Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Programme in the United States.
Halima, who represented Nigeria in the highly competitive international exchange programme, distinguished herself during her one-year academic stay at Sylvan Hills High School, Arkansas, where she emerged as the Best Student of the Month for January 2026.
She also earned Certificates of Proficiency in both English and Hausa Languages, further showcasing her academic excellence, cultural values, and leadership qualities.
Halima was among only seven Nigerian students selected for the prestigious programme, which equips participants with leadership skills, academic exposure, and cross-cultural experiences while serving as ambassadors of their countries.
Radda described Halima’s achievement as a source of pride and inspiration to the people of Katsina State, noting that her success is a clear reflection of the immense potential of Katsina youths when provided with quality education, mentorship, and opportunities to excel.
The governor added that her success validates his administration’s sustained investment in the education sector, particularly in improving learning outcomes, expanding access to quality education, empowering teachers, and creating opportunities for students to competefavourably at national and international levels.
He commended the state Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education under the leadership of Hon. Yusuf Sulaiman Jibia for nurturing excellence and creating pathways for students to access global opportunities.
Radda expressed confidence that the knowledge, experience, and leadership skills acquired by Halima during the programme would positively impact her future and inspire other students across the state to pursue excellence.
He congratulated her family, teachers, and the entire members of her secondary school community on this outstanding accomplishment and wished her continued success in all her future pursuits.
