Ex CDS, Agwai chairs SIRA public lecture in Abuja Thursday

The former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Ex United Nations Deputy Military Adviser, Gen. Martin Luther Agwai (Rtd) will chair a public lecture on terrorism in Abuja Thursday.

The lecture organized by Society for International Relations Awareness (SIRA) will also have the Honourable Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed as guest at its book presentation on President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a press statement released in Abuja Tuesday by the duo of Mr. Owei Lakemfa and Oseloka Henry Obaze (OHO) President and Chairman Public Committee respectively, it noted the lecture would be followed by a book presentation on President Muhammadu Buhari’s Foreign Policy with Honourable Minister of Information & Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed as distinguished guest of honour.

According to the statement, the lecture titled: “Transnational Terrorism And Insurgency In The Sahel: Implications For National Security And Democratic Governance In The Region.” would be delivered by the Commandant, National Defence College (NDC) and Above Water Warfare Specialist, Rear Admiral Murtala Mormoni Bashir.

It informed that the lecture organized by the leading foreign affairs think tank; the Society for International Relations Awareness, SIRA which was open to the public takes place from 11: 00 am at the National Defence College (NDC) Herbert Macaulay Way, Abuja.

“The Co-Discussants at the Lecture are Dr. Bayo Asala, African Indigenous Conflict Management Expert and Colonel (Dr) Wilson Ijide (Rtd) Industrial Organisation Psychologist and Military Strategist while the Reviewer is Aminu Ahmed Yusuf, Independent Researcher on Social Movements and State Building.

“Also, a185-page book: “Continuity And Change In Nigeria’s Foreign Policy Under President Muhammadu Buhari.” is to be presented at the occasion. It contains the 2021 SIRA Lecture presented by  Professor Ibrahim A. Gambari, CFR,OCORT, the Chief of Staff to  the President and  contributions by five academics; Doctors Ikenna Arthur Amanchukwu, Emeka C. Iloh,  Chukwuemeka V. Muoneka, Mrs Ifeoluwa O. James-Iduma and Mr Cornelius C. Mbah. It is rounded up with a paper by Admiral Anthony Isa, former Commandant of the NDC” the statement read in part.

Continuing, it maintained that diplomats, academics, labour leaders, lawyers, social activists, the media, youth representatives, critical stakeholders and general public were expected at the programme.
