Accord, ADC can’t be deregistered – Nyameh, Tutare

Candidates of the Accord Party and African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Taraba State, Prof. Jerome Nyameh and Abubakar Tutare, have said both parties cannot be deregistered by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Peoplesdaily reports that the two candidates were reacting to a Federal High Court ruling by justice Peter Lifu in Abuja on Monday which ordered INEC to deregister Accord, ADC, and three other political parties.

Speaking on the judgement, Accord Party governorship candidate, Prof. Jerome Nyameh said the Federal High Court was only a court of first instance, adding that the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court remain the final arbiters.

He urged supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, insisting that Accord has the qualifications to remain as a political platform for Nigerians to contest elections.

“The Federal High Court is just for trial. The Court of Appeal is there and the Supreme Court.

“Accord Party has a sitting governor, Ademola Adeleke, and tomorrow he will be flagging off his campaign for a second term,” he noted.

Also reacting, ADC governorship candidate, Alhaji Abubakar Tutare said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) cannot be deregistered, stressing that the party has members in the House of Representative.

Tutare charged supporters not to panic, expressing confidence that the Supreme Court would rule in their favour.
