Jigawa Govt Approves N97.7m to Retrain 2,600 Hisbah Personnel

The Jigawa State Executive Council chaired by Governor Umar Namadi, has at its meeting on Monday approved the release of N97.7 million for the training of 2,600 Hisbah personnel from across the 27 local government areas of the state.

This was made known in a statement issued on Tuesday by the state Commissioner for Information, Youth and Sports, Sagir Musa Ahmed.

He said that the training was aimed at strengthening the operational capacity and effectiveness of the personnel.

“The training programme is designed to equip Hisbah personnel with modern operational skills, enhance their professional competence, and improve coordination among officers at the headquarters, zonal, and local government levels.

“The 2,600 beneficiaries are expected to apply the knowledge and skills acquired to improve operational efficiency, strengthen coordination among commands, and enhance the overall effectiveness of Hisbah activities across the 27 Local Government Areas of Jigawa State.”

He added that the training will also provide participants with updated knowledge and best practices required for effective service delivery in line with contemporary community engagement and institutional management standards.

Meanwhile, the state executive council has also approved the release of ₦279.69 million for the phase two of the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) Programme.

“The approval by Council aimed at meeting all necessary requirements for the State participation in the SAPZ Programme, a transformative initiative being implemented through collaboration between the Federal Government and the African Development Bank to stimulate agricultural industrialization and economic growth.

“The preparatory activities are a critical step toward positioning Jigawa State to fully benefit from the programme, which is designed to attract large-scale private sector investment in agro-processing, strengthen agricultural value chains, enhance productivity, and create sustainable employment opportunities for citizens especially the teeming youth while positioning Jigawa State as a major hub for agro-processing and agribusiness development, leveraging its vast agricultural potential to drive economic diversification, increase rural incomes, and promote inclusive growth.”

In a related development, the council has constituted a committee to harmonise submissions on the Review of Dutse Master Plan.

This followed the presentation made by a team from Ahmadu Bello University Consultancy Services Limited for the Review of Dutse Master Plan 20250.

The high-level committee is to harmonize and review presentations made to the Council on the Dutse Master Plan Review 2050.

The committee will be chaired by the Commissioner for Lands, Housing, Urban Development and Regional Planning, Ahmed Alhaji Kaugama.

The members are Aminu Kanta, Commissioner of Commerce; Sagir Musa Ahmed, Commissioner of Information; Alhassan Muhammed, Commissioner of Water Resources; and Nura Ibrahim, Commissioner of Environment.

The committee has been mandated to undertake a comprehensive review of all submissions and recommendations relating to the Dutse Master Plan, with a view to ensuring that the final document reflects the aspirations of government, stakeholders, and the people of the state.

As part of its assignment, the committee will engage relevant stakeholders, including professional bodies, community representative, and other interested parties.

Where necessary, public hearings will be conducted to provide an inclusive platform for contributions and feedback.

The committee is expected to submit its report and recommendations to the Council within four weeks.

This initiative is in line with Governor Namadi’s 12-Point Agenda for sustainable urban development and commitment to promoting sustainable development, transparency, and broad-based stakeholder participation in the planning and development of Dutse and its environs.
