WAFU-B U17 Championship: 25 Golden Eaglets players depart for Ouagadougou

Head Coach Eboboritse Uwejamomere has selected a team of 25 Golden Eaglets that he believes will make Nigeria proud at the WAFU-B U17 Championship starting in Ouagadougou, capital of Burkina Faso on Saturday.

The team left Nigeria through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja for Ouagadougou.

Five-time world champions Nigeria have been drawn in group B of the championship, which is a qualifying tournament for next year’s U17 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Morocco.

The Eaglets will confront Niger Republic and Burkina Faso in the group stage, with hosts Burkina Faso to battle things out with Ghana, Togo and Benin Republic in group A.

In Eboboritse’s list are three goalkeepers, seven defenders, eight midfielders and seven forwards.

The Eaglets will depart Nigeria on Tuesday morning, and will have eight more days to work on their tactical and technical conditioning before their first match of the championship on 14th October.

Midfielders: Israel Irabor; Adewolu Lukman; Izuchukwu Ogboji; Sochima Emeka; Michael Ekundayo; Al-Ameen Adegboya; Saeed Hussaini; Abubakar Abdulrasaq

Forwards: Godswill Usoro; Daniel Lawrence; Chiedozie Igboenyobe; Faruq Azeez; David Fagbamila; Mubarak Fasiu; Abiodun John
