WFI organization ready to partner ministry, NPHCDA on health delivery

The programme director in charge of Women Friendly Initiative (WFI) organization in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Oluwale Daini, has reiterated its readiness to partner with the Federal Ministry of Health and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) on the provision of health services for the adolescents and youths in the Territory and the country at large.

Daini, disclosed this during the launching and formal presentation of the “National Guidelines on Promoting Access of Young People to Adolescent and Youth Friendly Services by the Ministry in partnership with WFI NPHCDA, in Abuja.

He said that the management of the Initiative would continue to contribute their quota towards the development of health facilities for the benefit of the youth and adolescents in the society.

The Director commended the Health ministry for giving priority attention to the health needs of the citizens, while advising the leadership of the ministry to deem it necessary to implement the policy on the National guidelines.

Speaking earlier, the Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, noted that the future of adolescents and youths depends on the provision of health services provided to them by the government.

Represented by the Director in charge of Family Health Department at the Health ministry, Dr. Wapada Balami, the minister explained that the national guidelines was designed to arm programme planners, implementers, health managers with strategic broad guidance for actions.

This, he said was needed to improve young peoples’ health needs through effective utilization of available adolescent and youth friendly services.

Chukwu, however, assured health professionals that the document or the national guidelines will go a long way to improve the health needs of the millions of Nigerian youths and adolescents, while calling on the health providers to take the guidelines across the health facilities in the country.
