The Bureau of Public Service Reforms has entered into a strategic partnership with GovTech Africa Inc. to strengthen digital governance and accelerate reforms across Nigeria’s public service.
The collaboration, formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, is expected to improve service delivery, enhance transparency and build the capacity of public servants responsible for managing government digital platforms.
The agreement provides a framework for cooperation on three major initiatives: the Federal Government Web Ranking Programme, an E-Learning and Post-Training Certification Programme for government webmasters and content managers, and the annual Federal Government Web Ranking Finale Event.
Officials at the signing ceremony said the partnership aligns with the Federal Government’s drive towards digital transformation and the modernisation of public institutions.
They noted that the initiative would combine GovTech Africa’s expertise in civic technology, digital platforms, technical assessments and e-learning systems with BPSR’s mandate to drive reforms and improve institutional performance in the public sector.
Under the arrangement, both organisations will deploy a technology-driven framework to strengthen the annual assessment of federal government websites.
The initiative is also expected to establish a structured training and certification pathway for civil servants managing government web platforms, while promoting best practices in content management, accessibility and cybersecurity.
The annual ranking event, according to the parties, will serve as a platform to recognise excellence, encourage healthy competition among Ministries, Departments and Agencies, and motivate improved performance in the delivery of digital services to Nigerians.
The partnership is expected to contribute significantly to improving accountability in public institutions, expanding citizen engagement and building sustainable capacity within the civil service.
The MoU will run for an initial period of 24 months, with provisions for renewal and expansion into other reform-focused initiatives aimed at deepening Nigeria’s public service transformation agenda.
