Banditry: Kwankwaso hails Tinubu over Kano army deployment

Date:

APC chieftain and member of the Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, has commended President Bola Tinubu for establishing a new Army battalion and an artillery regiment in Kano State as part of efforts to strengthen security and tackle banditry.

Kwankwaso said the deployment of the 24 Battalion in Tudun Wada and the 311 Artillery Regiment in Dambatta demonstrated the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting lives and property in the state.

He made the commendation in a statement made available to journalists on Saturday.

The APC chieftain also praised the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf; Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa; and Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, for their respective roles in strengthening security in the state.

He described the establishment of the military formations as a response to emerging security threats, noting that their strategic locations would improve the military’s capacity to tackle banditry, terrorism and other violent crimes.

According to him, the deployment will provide additional protection for residents and complement existing security operations in Kano and neighbouring communities.

“President Tinubu has demonstrated that he cares deeply about the security of Kano and its people.

“The establishment of these new military formations is a clear demonstration that the Federal Government is prepared to take decisive action to protect lives and property,” Kwankwaso said.

He noted that Kano, given its population and economic importance, required a robust security architecture capable of responding swiftly to emerging threats.

Kwankwaso said the intervention had reinforced public confidence in the President’s commitment to addressing security challenges, adding that effective governance should be measured by actions that produce tangible results.

He expressed appreciation to the President for what he described as a significant investment in the security and stability of the state.

“For all that President Tinubu is doing for Kano, the people of the state will continue to appreciate him. We will reciprocate these gestures through our continued support for his administration and its programmes,” he added.

The APC chieftain, however, urged residents of Tudun Wada, Dambatta and neighbouring communities to cooperate with military personnel and provide useful intelligence to security agencies.
