The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed confidence of reclaiming Osun State in the August 15 governorship election, citing its resounding victory in the recent Ekiti governorship poll as a sign of growing public support for the party.
A prominent APC chieftain in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, said the overwhelming re-election of Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji demonstrates the electorate’s continued trust in progressive governance and serves as a positive signal for the party’s prospects in Osun.
Speaking in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye described Oyebanji’s victory as a well-deserved mandate and a reflection of the governor’s performance in office.
According to him, the outcome of the Ekiti election has strengthened the morale of APC members and supporters across Osun State, while reinforcing the party’s belief that voters remain committed to its development agenda.
He argued that the Ekiti result underscores the importance of party unity, grassroots mobilization and effective leadership, noting that these factors would play a crucial role in the forthcoming Osun governorship contest.
“The Ekiti result has shown that when a party remains united, focused and committed to grassroots engagement, victory becomes inevitable,” he said.
Oyintiloye also praised the leadership of the APC National Working Committee, led by National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru, for what he described as strategic efforts to strengthen the party nationwide.
He further commended former Osun State Governor and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for sustaining party cohesion and maintaining engagement with members and stakeholders since the 2022 governorship election.
The APC stalwart expressed optimism that the party’s governorship candidate in Osun, Bola Oyebamiji, would receive widespread support from voters, describing him as experienced and capable of delivering effective leadership.
Oyintiloye maintained that the APC’s mobilisation efforts across wards and local government areas were yielding positive results and predicted that the party would achieve a decisive victory at the polls.
His comments followed the declaration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji as winner of the Ekiti governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Oyebanji secured 319,224 votes to defeat his closest challengers, Olumayokun Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), winning across all 16 local government areas of the state.
