Former Senator and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Ayo Arise, has called for greater unity, justice and fairness within the party as preparations gradually begin for the 2027 general elections.
Arise made the appeal while congratulating Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his deputy, Monisola Afuye, on their victory in the June 20 governorship election.
In a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti, the APC stalwart described the governor’s re-election as a reflection of the confidence reposed in his administration by the people of the state.
According to Arise, the overwhelming support received by Oyebanji at the polls demonstrates public appreciation of the administration’s efforts in infrastructure development, education, healthcare, agriculture and civil service reforms.
He commended Ekiti voters for turning out in large numbers to renew the governor’s mandate, expressing confidence that a second term would enable the administration to consolidate ongoing projects and deliver more developmental initiatives across the state.
Arise noted that continuity in governance would accelerate progress in critical sectors and further strengthen the state’s development agenda.
However, while celebrating the victory, the former lawmaker urged leaders and members of the APC to remain committed to the principles of unity, inclusiveness and fairness as the party looks ahead to future political contests.
The politician, who is believed to be interested in representing Ekiti North Senatorial District in 2027, stressed that internal cohesion would be crucial to sustaining the party’s dominance and electoral success in the state.
Governor Oyebanji secured a second term in office after emerging victorious in the governorship election, reinforcing the APC’s hold on political power in Ekiti State.
