The controversy surrounding the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary in Taraba North has intensified, with party stakeholders calling on the leadership to promptly affirm the authentic winner of the contest.
More than a month after the May 19, 2026 primary election, the APC is yet to officially settle competing claims of victory by Kabir Bello and Senator Isa Lau, a situation that has continued to generate tension within the party.
Expressing concern over the prolonged uncertainty, APC stakeholders Abubakar Umar Ibrahim and Bilal Galadima urged party leaders to resist any attempt to tamper with the outcome of the exercise.
The stakeholders in a statement warned that efforts to alter the result could trigger further divisions within the ruling party.
According to them, reports of alleged behind-the-scenes moves to overturn what they described as a credible primary outcome are troubling and could undermine confidence in the party’s internal democratic processes.
The stakeholders maintained that respecting the outcome of the primary is essential to preserving the integrity of the APC and maintaining the trust of party members ahead of future elections.
They further cautioned that any decision perceived as disregarding the wishes of party members could damage the APC’s image in Taraba North and weaken its support base in the district.
The latest development underscores the challenges facing the APC in resolving post-primary disputes, as the party leadership comes under increasing pressure to bring clarity to the contested senatorial ticket.
