“For instance, anybody seeking to register a university or any educational institution must first get a certificate of ‘no objection’ from either the National Universities Commission or the Ministry of Education. The CAC will not look at you if you don’t have the no objection certification of the relevant government departments and agencies.”

Ida, a retired federal permanent secretary, said his desire is to guide the CAC to be among the best regulatory bodies with regards to the registration of companies and allied matters, adding that one of the key responsibilities of the CAC is “to alive companies and businesses”, ensure respect for the law, and protect the corporate image of the country.

He said adherence to laid down rules is very important, not just in the civil service but also in personal life. Citing example with himself, Sen Ida said since his retirement from the federal civil service 27 years ago, no one has ever invited him to question the way he handled his responsibilities as a civil servant.
