Yuguda urges physically challenged to pray for peace, stability

Governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State has urged disabled persons to continue praying for peace and stability to overcome the current security challenges in the country, just as he distributed food items to them in the state.

Governor Yuguda, who was represented by his aide, Alhaji Salisu Garba Mai sugar, gave the charge while distributing the food items saying that prayer is the  ultimate.

“I am urging you the disabled persons to embark on persistent prayers for peace and stability to return and prayer for end of this insecurity challenges”

Yuguda said the gesture would go a long way in alleviating the suffering of  disabled persons in the state.

He said the items were meant to be distributed to blind persons,  Lepers, Cripple, deaf and dumb in the society with the view to alleviating their sufferings and discourage street begging in the state.

Over 10,000 bags of assorted food items were distributed to disabled persons across the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state.

While receiving the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Sarkin Makafin Bauchi, Alhaji Abdullahi Jibrin assured that no beneficiary would be left out of the kind gesture of the state government.

Meanwhile, as part of efforts by the Sokoto state government to discourage  begging among disabled persons in the state, N46.93 million has been earmarked to carter for no fewer than 7,220 physically-challenged persons as their monthly allowances.

The Chairman, Sokoto State Zakat and Endowment Committee, Alhaji Lawal Maidoki said the payment is being done monthly by the state government through the Committee.

Maidoki disclosed this at the flag off of the payment in Bodinga local government area of the state; he noted that the gesture was aimed at further alleviating the suffering of the needy persons.

“This is part of the sustained efforts of the state government to discourage the beneficiaries from street begging. This laudable gesture has been sustained since 2007 and it is aimed at making the beneficiaries self-reliant,” he explained.

While commending the state governor, Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko for sustaining the gesture, Maidoki appealed to wealthy persons in the state to complement the efforts of the state government in this direction.

A prominent Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Buhari Sirridawa and a traditional title holder, Ambassador Bala Sokoto, the Dan-iyan Sokoto, underscored the importance of  the Zakkat and endowment institution among the Muslim Ummah.

In the same vein, the committee has flagged off the annual tree planting campaign undertaken by the beneficiaries of the monthly gesture.
