From Ibrahim Sidi Muh’d, Gusau

The newly deployed Sector Commandant of the Zamfara state Federal Road Service Corps (FRSC), Mr. Amos Yakubu Thliza, has assured collaboration with FERMA to expedite fill-up treatment of potholes dug on the highway that runs from the state capital, Gusau, to Sokoto state.

Thliza, who was on familiarization visit yesterday to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) state secretariat, made the pledge while responding to observation raised by the state Council Chairman, Comrade Ibrahim Muhammad Kanoma, that the abandoned potholes scratched by FERMA are sometimes responsible for a number of the road accidents within the axis, solicited the commission to do everything possible to save lives that were endangered by negligence.

The Sector Commandant said the visit was purposely organised in order to bring the working journalists in the state close to the commission, and to share lucrative information that would assist to curtail the high rate of road crimes in the state.

He informed that the commission is ready to work with journalists in their quest to ascertain the true picture of things in the society, an action which he said enhances legitimate service rendered for the benefit of Nigerians.

He further disclosed that his commission would deploy more personnel across the major roads of the state capital to address violation of laws with a view to bringing offenders to book.

 Earlier, the state NUJ Chairman, Comrade Ibrahim Muhammad Kanoma, assured of the cooperation of the members of the noble profession, saying the Union’s doors are always open for the FRSC towards achieving the desired goals.
