The Africa Women Conference (AWC) has expressed deep sorrow following the passing of celebrated Nollywood actor Francis Duru, describing him as a cherished member of the AWC family whose dedication and contributions significantly enriched the organization over the years.

In an official statement issued on Friday, AWC Convener Dr. Jumai Ahmadu paid tribute to Duru’s enduring legacy both within the creative industry and across the conference community.

Dr. Ahmadu noted that Duru’s departure is particularly painful as the organization prepares to celebrate its 10th Anniversary Edition in Accra, Ghana.

She emphasized that as the conference reflects on the individuals who have helped shape its history, Duru holds a treasured place in that story.
