2015: Zangon Kataf community endorse lawmaker for third term

Date:

From Muhammad Ibrahim, Kaduna

People of  Zonkwa constituency in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna state yesterday urged the member representing the area, Barrister Irimiya Kantiyok to re-contest the State House of  Assembly election  for the third term in the area.

According to the people, particularly Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders, in the history of the constituency no lawmaker has performed well as Kantiyok has so far done.

Those that endorsed him were stakeholders made up of former and present LG chairmen, Vice Chairmen, Councillors and ward leaders of the party.

The lawmaker was endorsed at Bajju town hall,  Zonkwa in the presence of several prominent people of the area.

In his remarks, former local government chairmanship aspirant in the area, Pastor Isaac Ango Makama said all stakeholders and political appointees have assessed the performance of the lawmaker before his

endorsement.

“He has a good record and that is why the people are calling him to contest for third-term. Many people are surprised over his development strides. He has not told us whether he wants a third term. But we

decided to meet and agree that in view of his performance, everybody wants Kantiyok to return to the State House of Assembly in 2015,” he said.

Also, a former Zangon Kataf LGA Vice Chairman, Hon Samuel Tanko, said the people wanted Barrister Kantiyok to run for third term because in the history of their politics, none has carried the masses especially those at the grass root along like him.

“The endorsement has been done by the people without his consent. Some of the villages he spent days interacting with are the one speaking. His development strides are now speaking for him,” he said.

He added that some of them who served at the local council level don’t even know as much villages as Kantiyok in the area.

According to him, the lawmaker eats with the villagers and they have now joined hands with politicians calling on him to contest.

The former chairman said it was the masses that wanted Kantiyok to contest the 2015 election as a member for third-term representing the area.
